Empty Claw

Zalthor and the only one of its kind

The hall is too large for the one who sits in it. Skrik, a goblin crowned in stolen metal, keeps a dragoness on her knees and names the price of her freedom: a being. Unique. The only one of its kind.

Zalthor is of the same line as Seryth. Black hide, bronze on the chest, violet eyes, a sword that looks too short in his hand. The desert does not forgive those who hesitate. He finds her in the red-stone hills, where the heat shimmers and the shadows lie. She is not a lioness, nor a woman, nor a demon from a tale. She is the three things badly sewn. He sets the trap with her hunger.

Then the net is cut. Verbeegs take what he caught. A door breaks at the edge of the water. An old sword changes hands. The goblin does not keep his word. The myth does not kneel.

This is not a hunt for a trophy. It is a debt measured in rope, in warning, and in hands that, at the end, are empty.
