Vaelith Nightscale is a dark-scale dragoness who walks out of Emberpeak and into Ashfang timber. Below the snow line she finds wolf pack law, a gold-winged Sun-Quill remnant who refuses to stay extinct, and a bronze brother who would rather close a country than let her want one.
